CatchLightPictures > El Capitan at Sunset with the Merced RiverThe sun is setting over the Yosemite Valley. The Merced River is in the foreground providing that great reflection. The color on El Capitan is from the sun just getting ready to disappear.I continue to play with HDR with this picture. I took 10 exposures each 1/3 EV apart. I then used Photomatix to combine them. I like this approach as opposed to carrying around the various filters that would be need to balance the exposure of the sky with the valley floor. You can find other pictures from my visit to Yosemite at Yosemite Gallery

CatchLightPictures > The Ahwahnee EntranceWhen arrived in the evening for our first visit to the hotel. We were greeted by a long and well lit entrance walkway. I could resist taking a picture of the symmetry in the lights.
The Ahwahnee
CatchLightPictures > The Winter Sports RoomI was surprised to find a few small rooms empty of people and just waiting for someone to take advantage of the quite and seclusion.
The Ahwahnee
CatchLightPictures > A Quite SpotThe common areas of the hotel were plentiful. I enjoyed wondering about with my camera and tripod.

CatchLightPictures > The Ahwahnee Dinning RoomThis was another room that made you go Wow! Once I saw it I told Louise that I wanted to have dinner in there. While waiting for our table I was able to wonder about and take some pictures.

CatchLightPictures > Half Dome at SunsetI just kept taking pictures as the light changed. You can vote which version you like the best.
CatchLightPictures > Half Dome in TwilightThe light from the sunset had nearly completely faded at this point. I have learned that even after the sun disappears you can still keep shooting pictures.
CatchLightPictures > Half Dome with Sunset ColorI liked the color that the mountain was taking on as Sunset approached.
